FAQ  | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS IG-53 TOXIC?

IG-53 consists of two components: The carrier aerosol, a compound which distributes the disinfectant throughout the room as well as the disinfecting components iodine, a chemical element with the element symbol I and atomic number 53.

The educts (starting materials) and products of the aerosol tablet are classified as physiologically safe and are approved, with no quantitative limit, as (i) additive E501 [potassium hydrogen carbonate] and (ii) food additive E525 [potassium hydroxide] without maximum level.

Iodine is on the one hand vital, on the other hand dangerous. During disinfection concentrations of up to 1g/m³ can occur. This concentration leads to damage to the eyes, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Therefore, please observe our safety instructions.

After the treatment, only a fraction of the concentration is still present. Iodine is air volatile and disappears over time. The concentration that remains is healthy.

Conclusion: Observe the safety instructions during disinfection and enjoy their yields without hesitation and share them with your loved ones.

How often do I need to treat?

We recommend a stable disinfection every 4-6 weeks. Please describe your situation in the contact form or by e-mail and you will receive your tailor-made solution.

What are the after effects after the treatment?

The distributed iodine remains in the stable on all surfaces reached by the aerosol mist for a period of about 4 weeks. The iodine is volatile in air and evaporates over time, you can accelerate this process by spraying with a hose.

However, there is an advantage for you if you do not do so. The crystalline iodine has a germicidal effect and thus provides lasting protection for your animals.

Can I leave my animals in the barn during the treatment?

The welfare of your animal is our top priority, which is why you will be asked at the time of ordering whether the animals will be in the barn during the two-hour treatment.

The decisive factor is the concentration of iodine in the air. We will prepare our product according to your possibilities so that there is no danger for your animals from the aerosol that is created.

Nevertheless, we recommend to remove all animals, litter and dung when disinfecting your stable. The aerosol penetrates into all areas that can be reached by air, but concealed areas remain inaccessible.

Decide on a treatment without animals in the barn, because then we can provide you with a much stronger version of IG-53 with a clear conscience.

Where can I buy it?

What do I do with the remaining slag?

You can either dispose of the remaining slag with the waste or dissolve it in water and use it as a high-quality fertilizer.

Why does it smell different after the treatment in my stable?

This is the typical smell of iodine. You will notice that it has a slight hospital smell, but don't worry, this iodine smell is completely harmless.
